ANASTASIA
CLARK- BIO
Anastasia Clark is the author of several full-length poetry books: published
by Sun Rising Poetry Press: Vagabond Pond (2006), Skeletons
and Other Complaints( 2004), Bloodsongs (2004) and Grieving With Poetry ( 2004). She is also the author of the Poetry
Petals Collection- which include eight
different chapbooks entitled: Friendship Poems, Healing Poems, Holiday Poems, Humorous Poems, Inspirational Poems,
Kaleidoscope Poems, Nostalgic Poems, and Romantic Poems.
Clark (Moore) grew up in Framingham, MA. She attended Framingham South
High School and in 1975, one
of her English teachers prompted her to enter a local writing contest in honor
of the town’s 275th Anniversary- and her poem “The Celebration of
Bloom,” won First Prize. She
eventually became a Poet-In-Residence
for the Framingham Public Schools (1977-78),
teaching a 10 week poetry seminar to 23 fourth grade classes- and editing an
anthology of their work.
In 1979 she moved to South Florida
with her family. She soon joined the Marine Corps and served for eight years. During
her enlistment, she completed an M.S.A. in
General Administration and a B.S in
Liberal Studies. She continued to
write poetry in her spare time and in 1988, “The Spring in Me,” a poem
about her two young children, won Third
Prize in the Windward Oahu News Spring Writing Contest. In 1989 she returned
to Florida.
Her poetry has appeared in numerous on-line and print venues-including
Southlit, Outsider Ink, Scrivener’s Pen, Subtletea, VOiCE, Spillway Review,
Ascent Aspirations, The Coffee Faucet, Penwomanship,
The Ultimate Hallucination, Sunpiper Press Literary
Magazine, Black Creek Review, Adagio Verse Quarterly and Wilmington
Blues.
Clark served two years (2003-2005) as Poetry Editor and Poetry
Columnist for Epiphany Magazine: a celebration in writing (e-zine)-and was also a Poetry
Columnist for Cold Glass Magazine (e-zine).
In 2004, her poem “My Valentine Garden,” won Third Prize in the Eden Florist Valentine’s
Day Writing Contest. Her poem, “Old Volcanoes,” was nominated for the 2005 Pushcart Prize.
Anastasia Clark currently resides in South
Florida and is actively involved in poetry readings and book
signing events at libraries, schools, art galleries, coffee shops and other
venues. She is married and has two grown children, a son and daughter- and also
a grandchild.
